Anyway, Episode #3 brings you some cool SID-sounds from the present and the past for your iPod, mobile phone, PC, home or car-stereo.
Yes, you can listen to them everywhere you want!
The SID’s in every episode are recorded using the REAL appropiate (6581 or 8580) SID chip.
No emulators were used!

The Commodore Zone - Games Database - feedback needed! 23:03
Since The-Commodore-Zone was re-launched in June 2005 it has been growing steadily and updated on a regular basis with new features.

However, one of the missing features which was not resurrected from the old, original Commodore Zone website was the C64 Internet Games Database.

The C64 Internet Games Database was created by the old CZ team for the purpose of providing a simple, fast, easy to use database. The data for this database was compiled by cataloging top 64 websites. It proved to be an extremely popular area of the old website.

It has been suggested by some visitors who were familiar with the old CZ, that this database should be brought back.

The TCZ team recently had a meeting regarding this and it was decided that we would consider re-launching this database feature if enough feedback suggests it would be worthwhile.

Any suggestions or comments about this would be appreciated. Please consider visiting the Commodore Zone discussion forum and vote in the online poll, make a post or just email TCZ.

Many thanks for your support The-Commodore-Zone

 HVSC seeks new members 18:24
HVSC seeks rippers:

The HVSC Crew is searching for 1-2 active music-rippers to join.

You love SID music, and would like to help preserve and sort it. As a part of the crew, you will rip music from old games and/or demos, and help with the construction of each new update.

Among other things you have fun in contacting people you don’t know by email, old composers (or people who might lead us to them) to verify their tunes with them, fix bad credits according to their intentions and get the PAL/NTSC and 6581/8580 flags from them. Last but not least you get the chance to listen to the finished update 2 weeks before the public to spot the last bugs we have overseen during the creation process.

HVSC seeks co-STIL admin:

We’d also appreciate a helping hand with the STIL.
If you have a good knowledge of original music, and have a small detective hidden in you, maybe this is something for you ?
We have often been surprised to find that a tune we knew for 20 years, is in fact a cover.

Will you help to find out more ?

The crew operates in a relaxed flat structure, each update is a team effort. That means we need a team player, who also can handle the occasional wacky humor that some members may display. :)

Bear in mind, the HVSC is a hobby project.
Members have family, job and obligations, but still we have so much fun, the crew is like a second family to all of us.

If you find the thought of joining the HVSC crew appealing and want to help to preserve scene history, send an email to hvsc@c64.org.

ps. the editor fuxxored this up, not me :)

 Hoxs64 v1.0.4.5 16:00
Hoxs64 v1.0.4.5 (166K) 16 January 2006.

Commodore 64 emulator for Windows has been updated recently.
Changes:
The length of time taken to reset the noise waveform via the "test bit" has been set
to 7 seconds. Version 1.0.4.2 and lower never reset the noise waveform. Version 1.0.4.3
accommodated the SounDemons emulation detector test by introducing a reset delay that
took a tiny fraction of a second. As a result some noise bases sid files will play
correctly as they did in version 1.0.4.2.

Make sure to grab the latest update from the Downloads section or you can download individual entries from the Mags area. Thanks to all of you who are helping to protect our culture from the wolves of time, please continue to support us!

 Game Over(view) Issue #25 03:42
The Game Over(view) crew in association with ourselves are proud to present.... us! Another inconsequential issue for your reading pleasure, now avoiding celebrating two years of publishing - yet still failing to reach even the sort of very basic level of quality that one would expect from a dodgy magazine for gamer lamers.

Marvel in the wonder of how terribly longwinded and boring the editorials have become! Amaze in the irony of the terribly written reviews critisising the games for commiting much the same sins the authors commit on a daily basis! And, of course, yawn as we enter into our regular mocking of Scene World and Retro Gamer.

All of the features that you have come to know and hate us for, come together once more with the sort of mediocre writing which have made us virtually unknown figures within the community. You too can be one of an exclusive set - only a limited number of people have the constitution required to stomach a complete issue. Will you be one of them?

 Naughty / SID + GoatTracker 2.2 Source Song 13:43
New!

I couldn’t resist: I covered another Cane/ADSR tune!! :-)
His orignal song (from 1992) is one that does not sound right on new SIDs.
It uses some odd filter settings which are only audible on a 6581.
I was disappointed about this fact, rewrote the whole song and moved filters to 8580.
Ok, like last time I included my source song for GoatTracker 2.2.

I hope everybody is happy with it.

Maybe an odd music release, but I didn’t know what I should do with it...
I ported once again a nice SID tune (original composer: Cane/ADSR) to the powerful Goattracker 2.2.
It’s done in about 18 hours between 1.01.-2.01.2006 and it is 99% accurate. But I moved SID filters from 6581 to 8580.

    Features:

    - less rastertime [Max: only $10 lines]
    - 8580 filters
    - smaller file size [packed]

The C64 CGC 2006 has been launched today, with new a new king of the throne. This compo is continuing from the 2005 CGC (Which sadly never got finished). Therefore those previous entries from the CGC2005 compo have been carried forward to the CGC 2006 compo. So if you want some fun and create an entry, (or you already had one for the CGC2005 that never made it) then now is your chance. Have fun!
